Critical Response to Fahrenheit 451

Montag changes from the beginning to the end of the book. The way he changes is that he realizes how much literacy can have an effect on their society. He finally starts to come out of "the cave" that his society is referred to. His society is referred to as a "cave" because it is sort of like the allegory of the cave. The society is blinded, they do not realize the knowledge and the teachings a book can hold. Despite what the rules of his society say, he still decides to read books and explore what his society is forbidden from. The trigger of this change was his curiosity and his burning desire to learn. This is what I think.

Extra Credit

If I lived in the world of Fahrenheit 451 and I left the society to be a book person, I would choose to become the book 1984 by George Orwell. I would choose this book because every book person in the story seemed to be a historical text, and some fiction would be nice. Not only that, but the society in the book 1984 has certain similarities in regards to the the change in beliefs of the main character in Fahrenheit 451. I think it would be a good idea to memorize this book to give future generations an idea of what their society has become from past experience and also from books.
